# vault upgrade

Upgrade the Vault CLI to the latest version.

Other commands check for a newer version once a day and print a notice to `stderr` when one is available. To turn off this check, set the environment variable `VAULT_CLI_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1`.

## Usage

```sh
vault upgrade [--check] [-y]
```

## Options

| Option | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `--check` | flag | Optional | Print the current and latest versions and whether an upgrade is available, without installing anything. Always exits `0` unless the check itself fails |
| `-y, --yes` | flag | Optional | Skip the confirmation prompt and upgrade immediately. Reinstalls the latest version even if it is already installed. Required in non-interactive or CI environments |

## Examples

#### Check for a newer version without installing

```sh
vault upgrade --check
```

#### Upgrade immediately (non-interactive)

```sh
vault upgrade --yes
```
