# Claude Desktop Setup

This section outlines how to connect the Vault Documentation MCP Server to Claude Desktop. You must have [Claude Desktop](https://claude.com/download) installed before you start this tutorial.

To connect the Vault Documentation MCP Server to Claude Desktop:

<Steps>
1.  Navigate to **File > Settings > Developer**.
    
2.  Click **Edit Config** to create a new configuration file if one doesn't exist, or open your existing configuration. The file is located at:
    
    *   macOS: `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`
    *   Windows: `%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json`
3.  In the `mcpServers` section of the config file, add the following text, then save the file.
    
    ```json
    "mcpServers": {
      "vault-documentation-mcp": {
        "command": "npx",
        "args": [
          "mcp-remote",
          "https://docs.veevavault.dev/mcp"
        ]
      }
    }
    ```
    
4.  Select **File > Exit** to close Claude Desktop.
    
5.  Reopen Claude Desktop and navigate to **File > Settings > Developer**. The *vault-documentation-mcp* server should be listed as *running*.
